How thick are Keller Shells and Hoops?

8ply VSS maple shells are 5.5 to 6mm
10ply VSS maple shells are 6 to 6.5mm
10ply VSS maple bass shlells are about 7mm
12Ply VSS Maple hoops are about 8mm
Yes they vary a little.
This also give you the possibility to let us know if you`d like to be on the thicker or thinner side and we try to accommodate if possible.

If I purchase a shell-set for a complete drum set, can you match the wood so that they fit nicely together after finishing or staining?

Yes, we try to match them as close as possible. This is important to the overall
appearance of a drum set if you finish the shells in their natural color.
Keller builds each order of shells custom and often in series. The shells arrive in Germany with a “born on date” of that series and are therefore not randomly picked of a shelf but have been built at the same time.
The beauty of wood is often the natural variation in the grain.
But it is important to pick shells that resemble the same or similar color and grain structure to optimize the overall appearance of the finished kit.
Just let us know if you are not going to wrap or finish them in solid colors.

Can you match additional shells to a previously purchased shell set from you at a later time? For example matching additional toms or f-toms or a matching snare shell?

Yes, If you plan on perhaps adding additional drums at a later time, we advise you to take some good pix of the shells when you get them from us before you do any work to them and send those to us when we are ready to add more shells to your kit.
If the shells are not from us, also no problem.
As long you have some good pix, we’ll do our best.
